LCBO To Sell Samuel Adams Utopias Via Lottery

TORONTO, ON – The Liquor Control Board of Ontario (LCBO) has announced that it will be selling a limited amount of Utopias, a rare and extra-strong beer from Samuel Adams Brewery, via a lottery system in January.

The agency received 70 710 mL bottles of the unique 27% abv beer, and will be selling them at $114.95 per bottle.

Orders will be accepted between January 6th and 13th at VINTAGES Shop Online and over the phone at (416) 365-5767 or 1-800-266-4764. Orders will be limited to one bottle per customer, and at the end of the ordering period, 70 names will be chosen at random.

In a press mailout, LCBO representative Chris Layton noted that the version being offered is the 2009 vintage, which “is a blend of batches, some aged as long as 16 years in bourbon, sherry and port casks.”
