Half Pints Collaborates With CKUW Radio and Announces $ellout $tout Day 2011

WINNIPEG, MBHalf Pints Brewing has released a new beer in support of CKUW 95.9 FM, the on-campus community radio station at the University of Winnipeg.

Dubbed CKUbreW, the beer is described by Half Pints owner and brewmaster David Rudge as “a blend of 2 different beers, dryhopped with locally grown Centennial hops.”

In a press release, Rudge half-jokingly notes that “the beer has been clarified by having a stereo playing nothing but CKUW placed below the tank 24/7 ‘til it’s bottled. The sonic vibrations from CKUW will aid in the maturing of the beer.”

CKUbreW is available in six-packs at the Half Pints brewery store, and at The Lo Pub (330 Kennedy St., Winnipeg). The beer label features Radio Girl, the mascot for this year’s CKUW Fundrive, as designed by Winnipeg illustrator and musician Evan Quiring.

Also coming up for Half Pints is the release of year’s batch of $ellout $tout, an imperial stout brewed with jaggery (a type of unrefined cane sugar) and aged in wooden barrels.

Available exclusively at the brewery, $ellout $tout 2011 will go on sale on February 26, 2011 at 9am. There will be a limit of 6 bottles per person, and Rudge warns that “last year’s batch sold out before 10:30 am, so be here or be square.”
