National Capital Craft Beer Week Announces Homebrewing Competition

OTTAWA, ON – The organizers of the first annual National Capital Craft Beer Week – happening in and around Ottawa on August 10th to 18th, 2012 – have announced a National Capital Homebrewing Competition to take place in conjunction with the week.

The competition is registered with the Beer Judge Certification Program (BJCP) and is sanctioned by the American Homebrewers Association (AHA), which will allow winners to gain points towards the annual AHA National Homebrewer of the Year award. Final round judging will take place on-site at the National Capital Craft Beer Festival on Friday, August 17 & Saturday, August 18, and the announcement and presentation of Best of Show winner will take place on the main stage at the festival.

Two major prizes will be awarded: Best of Show sponsored by Beau’s All Natural Brewing, and Best Regional Homebrewer (i.e. best beer from a homebrewer based in the National Capital Region) sponsored by Big Rig Brewery. There will also be prizes awarded to Best of Class winners, with full details to be posted soon on the competition website.

The entry window for submissions opened last week, and they will continue to be accepted until August 3rd. Full rules and submission details for the competition can be downloaded here.
