BC Breweries Win Big in Northwest Brewing News 2012 Readers’ Choice Awards

VICTORIA, BC – The December 2012/January 2013 issue of Northwest Brewing News is out now, and features the results of the magazine’s 8th Annual Readers’ Choice Awards, with honours being bestowed on a number of British Columbia breweries.
Several categories had a separate winner named in each state and province that falls into the publication’s distribution area, with BC winners including the following:
Best Brewery – Driftwood Brewery, Victoria
Best Brewpub – Central City Brewing, Surrey
Best Nanobrewery – Plan B Brewing, Smithers
Best Alehouse/Pub – The Alibi Room, Vancouver
Best Beer Store – Brewery Creek, Vancouver
Best beers, meanwhile, were selected from products available in the entire area (Alaska, BC, Washington, Oregon & Northern California), and chosen by style. Winning beers from British Columbia included:
Best Golden Ale – Salt Spring Island Golden Ale
Best Fresh Hop Beer – Driftwood Sartori Harvest IPA
Best Organic Beer – Salt Spring Island Estate Hopped Whale Tale Ale
Best ESB – Central City Red Racer ESB
Best Barley Wine – Central City Thor’s Hammer
Best Dark Lager – Vancouver Island Hermannator
Best Herb/Spice Beer – Salt Spring Island Heather Ale
Best Stout (Runner Up) – Crannog Back Hand of God
Best Pilsner (tie) – Steamworks Pilsner
