Amsterdam Spring Bock Returning for 2013

TORONTO, ONAmsterdam Brewery has announced the impending return of the seasonal Amsterdam Spring Bock.

First brewed in 2009 from a recipe developed by homebrewer Derek Hyde, this strong doppelbock – checking in this year at 7.8% abv – has become an annual favourite from Amsterdam, and is described as follows:

Originally brewed only in monasteries for consumption during Lent, bock beers are the richest, creamiest, and most full-bodied beers in the world. Because of their high food energy and nutritional content, bock beer provided sustenance to monks who were required to fast for over 40 days and nights. If there was one beer you could literally live off of, this would be it. Our Spring Bock is crafted using three types of imported malts to give it a unique richness and deep mahogany colour. Fermented with our house strain of Danish yeast and aged three times longer than other beers, Amsterdam Spring Bock is a seasonal brew you do not want to miss out on.

This year’s edition of Amsterdam Spring Bock will be officially launched at the third annual “Rock Out With Your Bock Out” party, taking place at the brewery (45 Esandar Dr., Toronto) on Thursday February 28th from 5:00 PM to 8:00 PM. More details and guest list spots are available to those who “like” the Amsterdam Facebook page.

Following the launch, Spring Bock will be available in 500 ml bottles at the Amsterdam retail store and select LCBO outlets for $4.50 per bottle, and on tap at several bars and restaurants in Toronto and area while supplies last.

    1. LCBO distribution hadn’t been announced at the time this post was first written, but it’s since been confirmed that it will be available at the LCBO in limited quantities. I’ve updated the post to mention this.

  1. I recently purchased in Canada but want to buy inUSA. Is it available in Baltimore, Md? Loved it.
