NYANZA, NS – The Atlantic Canada Beer Blog reports that Big Spruce Brewing will be open and selling beer by the end of the month.

As reported here on CBN last fall, Big Spruce is an organic farm, brewery and restaurant being opened by brewer Jeremy White and his wife and chef Melanie White.

The first microbrewery on Cape Breton, Big Spruce will be launching with two flagship beers – an Oatmeal Stout and a Pale Ale – with seasonals planned to follow soon after. Both beers will be available in kegs initially, with distribution to bars and restaurants locally and across Nova Scotia, and growler sales at the brewery will start once production ramps up.

The companion restaurant will open later in the spring, operating a couple of nights a week on a reservation-only basis, and serving beer from the brewery alongside dishes prepared using ingredients grown at the on-site farm.

According to a post on the brewery’s Facebook page, all brewing and sales permits were received earlier this week, and the first brew day will be this Saturday, with beer expected to be available in three weeks time.
