OTTAWA, ON – The Capital Pint column on the website of Ottawa Magazine reports that a new brewery is getting set to open in Stittsville, a small suburban community in the west end of Ottawa.

Covered Bridge Brewing is being launched and operated by John VanDyk, a homebrewer who leverages his years of training and working as a biochemist in his brewing.

According to the article, VanDyk will be brewing on a recently delivered 1,200 litre system, and is planning a line-up of five beers including The Dirty Blonde blonde ale; The Amber Rose amber ale; MSB (brown ale); Eternally Hoptimistic American pale ale; and Double-Double sweet stout.

Renovations are underway at the brewery location (6-119 Iber Road, Stittsville), where VanDyk says he is “going to have a small storefront, sell growlers, and might even have a tasting room so we can sell by the pint. But our main push will be getting into restaurants and bars.”

While an exact opening date has yet to be set, Covered Bridge is hoping to be open and selling beer sometime in June. Watch the brewery’s Facebook page and Twitter feed for progress updates.
