Nine Ontario Breweries Take Medals at 2013 U.S. Open Beer Championship

ATLANTA, GA – The winners of the 2013 United States Open Beer Championship were announced earlier this week, and several Canadian breweries – or more specifically, Ontario breweries – took home medals in a pool of more than 2500 beers judged in 68 style categories. In addition, a pair of participating Canadian breweries received awards in two special categories.

GOLD –  Immodest Imperial IPA – Nickel Brook

BRONZE –  Butler’s Bitter – Niagara College

English Mild Ale
GOLD – Everard – Neustadt Springs Brewery
SILVER – Mill Race Mild – Grand River Brewing

Old Ale
BRONZE – Iron Duke – Wellington County Brewing

Barley Wine
SILVER – 2012 Barley Wine – Mill Street Brewery

Scottish Ale
SILVER –  Scottish Pale Ale – Neustadt Springs Brewery

Irish Red Ale
BRONZE – GRB IRA – Grand River Brewing

German Alt
SILVER – Ol’ Woody Alt – Sawdust City Brewing

German Wheat
BRONZE – Brewmaster Wheat – Niagara College

American Premium Lager
SILVER –  Neustadt Lager – Neustadt Springs Brewery

Marzen / Oktoberfest

American Cream Ale

Coffee Beer
BRONZE – Coffee Porter – Mill Street Brewery

Wood Barrel Imperial Stout
SILVER – Long Dark Voyage to Uranus – Sawdust City

Thanks to their 1 Gold and 3 Silver medals, Neustadt Springs Brewery was named #4 in the Top 10 Breweries of 2013, and Sawdust City’s Long, Dark Voyage to Uranus took the top spot on the Judges’ Award: Most Creative Names list.
