KENORA, ON – More than a year after it was first announced, Lake of the Woods Brewery is now open and serving beer and food to the public in the small city of Kenora in Northwestern Ontario.

Located in an historic former fire hall at 350 Second Street South, Lake of the Woods had a soft opening of its Taproom & Eatery on Canada Day weekend, but production issues meant that its own beer wasn’t available. This changed on Friday July 5th, when a keg of Sultana Gold Ale – one of the brewery’s three flagship brands – was tapped for the first time.

Sultana will soon be joined by two other brands – Paper Maker Pilsner and Fire House Amber Ale – with seasonals and one-offs in the works for the future. Growler sales will also be available soon via an adjacent retail store.

The Lake of the Woods Taproom & Eatery is open from 11:00 AM daily, closing at 11:00 PM Sunday through Wednesday, and 1:00 PM Thursday to Saturday.

  1. This is really exciting! I’m looking forward to another notable blip on the map in Kenora-it’s turning into the Hamptons of the prairies.
