ALDERGROVE, BCDead Frog Brewery has taken the opportunity offered by the release of a new sampler pack to unveil a slew of changes to its brand line-up and packaging.

The new Dead Frog Summer Mixer 12 pack is out now and features three new beers – The Session Vienna Lager, The Bold Belgian Pale Ale & The Seasonal Citrus Wit – along with a slightly renamed older brand, The Classic Nut Brown Ale.

All four beers are packaged in brown glass bottles, replacing the clear glass that was previously used for all 341 ml bottles from the brewery. And in addition to the new naming format, they all sport newly designed labels with improved details including the malts and hops used, IBUs, colour, suggested glassware, and the following tasting notes:

The Session Vienna Lager (5% abv, 30 IBU): A finely crafted light copper Lager with a hop forward floral aroma, slightly sweet malt profile & a crisp refreshing finish. German & North American hops combine with Vienna Malts to create a distinctive hop forward session brew.

The Bold Belgian Pale Ale (5% abv, 27 IBU): An unfiltered Pale Ale that combines the fruit flavour and spices of tradtional Belgian Pale Ales & the complex malt base of North American Pale Ales to create a unique new world take on an old world brew.

The Classic Nut Brown Ale (5% abv, 20 IBU): A full bodied, polished, surprisingly refreshing dark ale with a wealth of taste sensations roused by roasted malts with hints of chocolate and espresso flavours.

The Seasonal Citrus Wit (5% abv, 8 IBU): A clean, crisp, traditional Belgian wheat ale with light spices & refreshing hints of all natural citrus crafted to compliment long summer days.

In addition to appearing in the mixed pack, all four beers are available on their own in 6 packs and kegs – the first three year-round, and the Citrus Wit through the summer months. It also appears that older flagship brands Dead Frog Lager and Dead Frog Pale Ale have been retired and replaced in the core line-up by Vienna Lager and Belgian Pale Ale respectively.

Also new in 341 ml bottles is The Fearless IPA, a 6.5% abv & 77 IBU ale that was originally released last fall in 650 ml bombers. It will remain available year-round in 6 packs and kegs.

Unaffected by these changes so far are Dead Frog’s Pepper Lime Lager and Mandarin Orange Amber Ale, both of which remain available for now in the original clear glass packaging.
