WINNIPEG, MB – After more than a decade of doing without one, Winnipeg beer drinkers will soon have a new brewpub to call their own.

Portage Ave BrewWorks & Kitchen is aiming for a December 1st opening in a large location near the MTS Centre that previously held a sports bar.

Founded by businessman Darren Wanless and several partners, Portage Ave BrewWorks will offer both on-site draught and take-home growler sales of beer, along with a high-quality food menu, wine and spirits.

Doug Saville – founder of Two Rivers Brewing and ex-CEO of Fort Garry Brewing – will serve as “brewmaster emeritus,” with a day-to-day brewmaster – not yet named – set to join the team once they leave their current position at another brewery.

For more details, see the Portage Ave BrewWorks & Kitchen Facebook page and Twitter feed, along with a recent article from the Winnipeg Free Press.
