VICTORIA, BCLighthouse Brewing is marking 15 years in business this year, and the milestone is being celebrated with a new limited edition beer, as well as the return of a previous limited brand in a new year-round package.

The new beer – simply called Lighthouse 15th Anniversary Ale – is described as follows:

We brewed this beer with Maris Otter, Wheat, Crystal, and Chocolate malts, Cluster, Liberty, and Fuggle hops, English Ale yeast, history and respect. We took the ingredients, brewing techniques, and traditions that have made Lighthouse Race Rocks Ale Victoria’s favourite local beer and then turned it up to 15! Exciting and new, yet comfortable and familiar.

To promote the new beer’s release this week, Lighthouse commissioned Matt Schmitz of Victoria Beers to take photos of a bottle of 15th Anniversary Ale at various landmarks and picturesque locations around Victoria. One of the photos appears above, and the rest can be seen on the Victoria Beers website.

Also out this week is Siren Red Ale, an 8% ale that was originally available for a limited time last fall. Now a permanent addition to the Lighthouse line-up in 4-packs of cans, Siren has the following tasting notes:

Siren Imperial Red Ale is fermented with a unique yeast that highlights both malt and hops. This beer balances a rich malty body with an assertive hop bitterness. New-season whole centennial hop flowers were added to several stages of the brew and lend a classic citrus-like character.

A launch party for Siren will take place today (Wednesday August 7th) from 4:00 PM to 6:00 PM at Garrick’s Head Pub (1140 Government St., Victoria).
