CALGARY, ABBrew Brothers Brewery, a Calgary-based brewing company that has been around for almost two decades – initially brewing under contract at other facilities, and then operating since 2002 out of its own small brewery on 11th Avenue – has announced that it will be closing its doors this Friday February 28th. But despite the sad closure, the location won’t be sitting empty for long.

Taking possession of the space next Monday will be Last Best Brewing & Distilling, the fourth location in the Bear Hill chain of brewpubs which also includes Wood Buffalo Brewing in Fort McMurray, Jasper Brewing in Jasper, and Banff Avenue Brewing in Banff.

As the name suggests, Last Best will also include a small distillery, the second for Bear Hill following the upcoming launch of the company’s – and Alberta’s – first micro-distillery at the Wood Buffalo location later this year.

Most details about Last Best are still to be confirmed, but according to its Twitter feed, the owners hope to start brewing in March for a spring opening.
