VANCOUVER, BCGranville Island Brewing has announced details of the latest installment in its Black Note Book Series of limited edition small batch beers.

Shipload of Hops Imperial IPA – “a name that gives a nod to the nautical heritage of the IPA style” – is described as follows:

As is signature of an Imperial IPA, this beer is full-bodied with a lingering bitter finish landing at 100 BU and 8.7% ABV. Boasting marmalade, citrus peel flavours and a subtle pine aroma, Shipload of Hops is a double IPA that pairs perfectly with salty cured meats and caramelized BBQ dishes like ribs. With this one we utilized both pellets and leaf hops and added Zeus, Simcoe and Amarillo at five different stages of the brewing process (including whirlpool, hop-back and dry-hopping) to get the brazen bitterness we were looking for. Lightly filtered to help retain as much of the hop character as possible Shipload of Hops has a somewhat hazy appearance and a fierce flavour right down to the bitter end.

Shipload of Hops is available now in a limited run of 650 ml bottles at the GIB Taproom and select liquor stores in British Columbia.
