PENTICTON, BC – Following on a preview release last month, Cannery Brewing has announced more details about its new summer seasonal, which has been given a full roll-out just in time for the long weekend.

Skaha Summer Ale – named after Skaha Lake and Skaha Bluffs, both popular summer spots in the Penticton area – is a 5% abv pale ale that is described as follows:

It’s a blond ale that is a refreshing, thirst quenching beer perfect for a hot summer day. Cannery Brewing’s Head Brewer Ross Thompson explains, “Our brewing team was eager to create something new this year for our summer seasonal. We wanted to create something unique and different. This is light and summery, but it’s also a beer drinker’s beer. It’s well balanced, flavourful and complex. We added white wheat malt and German Ale yeast to create a body that is soft and delicate with a crisp, dry finish.”

Thompson also notes that the brewery plans on using different hops in each annual edition of Skaha, which this year’s version being made with Topaz and Ella, two varieties from Australia.

Cannery Skaha Summer Ale is available now in 650 ml bottles at liquor stores throughout BC and Alberta, as well as on tap at select restaurants and bars.
