NOBLETON, ONBarn Door Beverage Co. – a sibling imprint of King Brewery – has announced the release of a new beer via Ontario’s LCBO chain.

The Barn Door label was launched earlier this year by Provincial Beverages of Canada (PBC), parent company of King Brewery and Thornbury Cider, and importer of Germany’s historic Weihenstephan beers. Brewed in the same Nobleton, Ontario facility as the King beers, Barn Door brands currently available at the brewery store include Tombstone India Pale Lager, Long Weekend Lager, and Spring Bock, with the latter also distributed at select LCBO outlets.

Joining Spring Bock on the shelves this week is Summer Storm Lager, a 4.8% abv Kellerbier style lager described as follows:

Summer Storm Lager is brewed with the spirit and style of an authentic, medieval-style Kellerbier. As its name suggests, this beer is meant to be a refreshing beer garden treat on a warm summer afternoon. Summer Storm is well-lagered and unfiltered giving it a cloudy and flavourful character. Medium bodied, the combination of Munich malts and Noble hops create wonderful flavours. It has a perfect balance of non-sweet maltiness, citrus and a prominent German hop bitterness.

Barn Door Summer Storm Lager is available now at the King brewery store and select LCBO locations throughout Ontario, retailing for $3.25 per 500 ml bottle.

Additional Barn Door seasonal brands are being prepped for release in the near future, including Oktober Fest Beer and Monster Mash Halloween Lager. In the longer term, PBC plans to move production of King and Barn Door brands to a new craft beverage facility in nearby Uxbridge that will house a brewery, cidery, distillery, and restaurant.

More details will be available on Barn Door’s Facebook page, Twitter feed and soon-to-launch website as plans progress.
