Ontario MPPs & Staffers Pick Their Favourite Craft Beers For 2015-16

TORONTO, ON – Last week at Queen’s Park, the Speaker of the Legislative Assembly of Ontario, the Honourable Dave Levac – pictured above with some of the team from Guelph’s StoneHammer Brewing – invited Members of Provincial Parliament (MPPs), Queen’s Park staff and selected guests to an annual tasting and selection of craft beers from across Ontario.

26 members of the Ontario Craft Brewers were on hand to pour 90 of their beers for attendees who cast ballots to choose their favourites. The winning beers will be available in the dining room and at catered events & receptions at Queen’s Park for the 2015-16 year.

The categories and winning beers for this year were:

Speaker’s Choice: King Vienna Lager
Amber Lagers, Ales & Honey Beer: Railway City Iron Spike Amber
Golden Lagers, Pilsners & Light Beer: StoneHammer Pilsner
Bold Flavoured Ale, Stout or Porter: Black Oak Ten Bitter Years Imperial India Pale Ale
Malty Dark Lager or Ale: Mill Street Tankhouse Ale
Wheat Beer or Specialty: Block Three King Street Saison
Refreshing Ale: Beau’s Lug Tread Lagered Ale
