BRITISH COLUMBIA – Those seeking proof that sour beers are one of the biggest trends in craft brewing at the moment need only look to British Columbia, where at least four breweries have new limited and seasonal beers available in the style:

  • Driftwood Brewery continues its Bird of Prey series of wild ales with Obscuritas Dark Sour, a 7.6% abv beer available now in select private liquor stores.
  • The Moon Under Water has two sours set for release this month – a Berliner-Style Weisse which was debuted yesterday, and a wine barrel-aged saison dubbed Tempus Corvi to follow next Tuesday June 16th. Both are available in bottles exclusively at the brewpub.
  • Townsite Brewing is offering 7800 Saison Sour, a limited edition version of the seasonal 7800 Saison, available now in a small run of bottles at select private stores.
  • Salt Spring Island Ales will be releasing their first ever sour ale tomorrow (June 11th) at the Garricks Head Pub in Victoria, where they’ll be tapping a Sour IPA cask-conditioned with rhubarb. See the Facebook event listing for more information.
