Garden Brewers Continues Now In Bloom! Series with B.F.F. Porter

HAMILTON, ONGarden Brewers has announced details of the next beer to be released in its Now In Bloom! series of limited edition small-run beers – one which also serves as its contribution to this year’s wave of fresh hop and harvest ales.

B.F.F. Porter is a 5.7% abv robust porter brewed using fresh hops from Buttrum Family Farm – the “B.F.F.” in the beer’s name – as well as some grown by Garden owners Victor and Sonja North. Imported dried hops were also added to augment the small local harvest, and a variety of malts both Canadian and imported were used.

The resulting beer is described as follows:

Toasty and warm from the burly base malts & roasty, rich and full-bodied from the specialty dark malts. There are notes of chocolate from the pale chocolate malt, hints of roasted nuts from the brown malt, and yes, a tangy sourdough-like note from the Special Roast Malt, which, within the context of all the other flavours in this beer, reminds me a little bit of molasses. The hops are present as a very complementary earthy-woodsy flavour, as well as a robust bitterness which balances out all of that malty decadence!

Garden B.F.F. Porter will be on tap soon at select bars in Hamilton and area. For more information, see the blog post announcement on the Garden Brewers website.
