TORONTO, ONOld Tomorrow Brewing has announced that a beer created in collaboration with one of Canada’s most famous athletes is launching this week at the LCBO.

Monty’s Golden Ryed Ale was was originally developed together with Olympic champion Jon Montgomery for the Collaboration Nation competition at this past summer’s Session Toronto Craft Beer Festival.

Named in honour of Montgomery’s “golden ride” in the men’s skeleton competition at the 2010 Winter Olympics in Vancouver, Monty’s Golden Ryed is an oak-aged rye ale described as having “a mellow oaky flavour and a bit of feistiness from premium Alberta rye whisky.”

Official launch events for the beer will be taking place on Thursday November 26th at the Queens Quay LCBO in Toronto and Friday November 27th at Barrack Street LCBO in Kingston. Both events run from 11:30 AM to 1:30 PM, and will feature beer sampling and food pairings, with Jon Montgomery on hand to meet and greet.

Monty’s Golden Ryed Ale will be available at select LCBO stores, selling for $6.95 per 660 ml bottle.
