HALIFAX, NS – A special edition of a collaborative beer brewed last winter by Big Spruce Brewing and Boxing Rock Brewing is set to be released in early April.

Triskaidekaphobia Imperial Brown Ale – named after the fear of the number 13, and fittingly brewed on November 13th – was created by the two breweries together with members of local beer appreciation group the Ladies Beer League.

A strong brown ale that was conditioned on rum soaked vanilla beans and locally sourced cherries, most of the single batch was released in December, but a small amount was set aside and barrel-aged, adding more complexity to the beer and bumping the abv up from 9% to 11%.

Ladies Beer League and local campus and community radio station CKDU 88.1 FM will be co-hosting a release party for the limited barrel-aged version of Triskaidekaphobia at Stillwell (1672 Barrington St., Halifax) on Saturday April 9th from 12:00 noon to 5:00 PM. Proceeds from the launch event will go to support CKDU, and DJs from the station set to be on hand to spin tunes throughout the day.

Advance tickets for the event are available online for $12 – or $8 for CKDU “sustainers” – which includes guaranteed admission, a sample of the beer, and a souvenir tasting glass. For more details, see the Facebook event listing.
