WHITEHORSE, YKYukon Brewing has announced release details for two favourite limited edition beers that are back in stock for the upcoming holiday season.

39 1/2 Foot Pole Black Currant IPA made its debut as one of the beers in the 2013 edition of the Craft Beer Advent Calendar, and returned as a stand-alone release in 2014.

For this new edition, it was brewed using locally grown black currants from Yukon Grain Farm, and Mosaic, Galaxy, and Belma hops. The result is described as having “an awesome balance of malted barley and wheat, black currants, and the hops.”

You Only Live Once Imperial Red Ale is part of the brewery’s occasional series of beers inspired by James Bond films, and is an amped up version of the brewery’s flagship Yukon Red brand.

Brewed with “almost 60% more grain per litre of beer, and nearly double the hops, including a dry-hopping that the Yukon Red does not get,” it ends up having “more body and higher alcohol, and a ton of that characteristic Yukon Red flavour.”

Both beers are available now in 650 ml bottles at the Yukon Brewing retail store. 39 1/2 Foot Pole is also available in Alberta, and soon at select stores in British Columbia.
