BURLINGTON, ONNickel Brook Brewing has announced details of the first two in a series of barrel-aged beers that will be released through the winter months.

Cuveé (10% abv) is an annual late autumn reserve ale, with this year’s vintage described as follows:

Brewed with premium European and North American malts, Caribbean Demerara and a special blend of fruits, herbs and spices. It is then blended with bourbon-barrel aged red ale, resulting in a complex and unique brew that can be enjoyed now, or laid in your cellar for years to come.

Kentucky Bastard (14.5% abv) is a variation on the brewery’s Bolshevik Bastard Imperial Stout that has been aged in bourbon barrels. It has the following description:

The rich chocolate, coffee and dark fruit flavours from our Imperial Stout are married together with the vanilla, oak and warming alcohol from the barrels. The result is an incredible blend of aromas and flavours.

Nickel Brook Cuveé and Kentucky Bastard are both available now in limited runs of wax-sealed 750 ml bottles at the brewery retail store and select LCBO outlets across Ontario.
