Winterlong Erebus & Terror Imperial Stouts Coming This Week

WHITEHORSE, YKWinterlong Brewing has announced the upcoming release of two Imperial Stouts, one the annual vintage of a beer that debuted last winter, and the other a new barrel-aged variation.

Back for a second year is Erebus, and joining it will be Terror, with both beers taking their names from the two ships used in the ill-fated Franklin Expedition of 1845.

Erebus and Terror – the beers, not the ships – are described as follows:

Erebus on its own is a beautifully dark, roasty stout with hints of chocolate, liquorice and molasses; while Terror has additional hints of vanilla, toasted coconut, toffee and oak from the bourbon and rye whiskey barrels that it has been ageing in for 4.5 months (purchased from the Port Chilkoot Distillery in Haines, Alaska). Erebus comes in at 8.5%, while Terror comes in a little boozier, at 10% courtesy of the whiskey barrels.

Erebus and Terror will be released on Wednesday January 25th in 650 ml bottles at the Winterlong brewery store. Erebus will also be available on tap, but with no growler fills due to limited availability.
