Kanoo Brewpub & Bistro Planned for Downtown Peterborough

PETERBOROUGH, ONThe Peterborough Examiner reports that the historic J.J. Turner building in the city’s downtown will soon be home to a new brewery and associated restaurant.

Kanoo – named in honour of the building’s original use as the Canadian Canoe Company in the late 1800s – will feature a brewery and pub in the space most recently occupied by the Bourbon Barrel country bar, and an upscale European-style bistro which replaces the recently close Elements restaurant.

Building owner Surin Toor tells the paper that he is also planning to open a private culinary school on the 2nd floor once the current tenants, a law office, move out in March.

Timelines and other details for the project have yet to be announced, but Toor says that “gutting is underway and he hopes the opening will be soon”.
