Garrison Announces Winner of 2017 Brew-Off Challenge & Releases Full Batch of 2016 Winner

HALIFAX, NS – At a gala event held last Thursday March 23rd at Garrison Brewery, the winner of 2017 edition of the annual Garrison Home Brew-Off Challenge was announced, and a commercially brewed edition of the 2016 winner was served for the first time.

The winner of this year’s competition, which challenged homebrewers to create a Wee Heavy, was Fredericton’s Roger Ringuette. His recipe was chosen by a panel of BJCP-certified judges as being the best in a range of of more than 40 entries from throughout the Maritime provinces.

As is the custom at this annual event, the evening also featured the release of a batch of last year’s winning beer brewed on Garrison’s system. 2016 winner Mark Power worked with Garrison brewmaster Daniel Girard to scale up his recipe for Infusion Confusion Chamomile IPA, and the 6.3% abv ale is available now in bottles at the Garrison retail store, and soon at private liquor stores & select NSLC locations in Nova Scotia.
