Yellowbelly Brewery Releases Ryan’s Fancy IPA

ST. JOHN’S, NL – Yellowbelly Brewery has announced the release of a new beer that pays tribute to one of Newfoundland’s most legendary and iconic musical groups.

Ryan’s Fancy IPA is a 6.3% abv and 60 IBU ale named in honour of the traditional Irish folk trio Ryan’s Fancy that was based in St. John’s and had success across Canada in the 1970s and early 1980s.

Brewed using “2-row, Munich and Carastan malts, [and] generously hopped and dry hopped with an assortment of varietals,” the beer is being released in conjunction with a new Ryan’s Fancy compilation album, What A Time Volume 2.

Ryan’s Fancy IPA is available now on tap and in 1 litre bottles at Yellowbelly, with bottles due to be on the shelves at local NLC Liquor Stores this Friday.

It will also be pouring at the release party for the new album on Tuesday June 13th at O’Reilly’s Pub (13 George St.), a venue where Fergus O’Byrne of Ryan’s Fancy still performs on a regular basis.
