Grizzly Paw Brewing Releasing Trio of Strong Beers This Month

CANMORE, AB – Grizzly Paw Brewing has announced details of three big beers that it will be releasing this month.

Released last Friday December 1st was 2016 Bourbon Barrel Aged Russian Imperial Stout (10.2% abv, 56 IBU), which is described as follows:

Conditioned in bourbon barrels for 12 months, our RIS boasts notes of subtle vanilla, licorice, coconut and a hint of alcohol. The barrel maturation has reduced the initial body and cleaned up any cloying sweetness. Distinct barrel derived oak and bourbon aromatics initiate the sensory experience.

Coming up on Wednesday December 13th are 2016 Barley Wine (10.1% abv, 40 IBU) and 2016 Barley Wine Aged in Tequila Barrels (10.4% abv, 40 IBU). The original has the following notes:

Raisin, biscuit, and caramel malt character. Fruity aroma with a soft alcohol presence. Fermented simultaneously with an Irish Ale yeast and a Belgian Trappist strain for yeast profile complexity. Beer is meant to be shared. Sip slowly. Cellared for 10 months.

And the tequila barrel version:

Deep copper in colour. Distinct oak barrel aroma. Maintains the same foundation and body of the non-barrel version but Tequila spiciness replaces the original malt sweetness. The result is a perceived boost in bitterness. Finishes dry with a warming alcohol presence.

All three beers will be available at the brewery in 650 ml wax-dipped bottles while supplies last.
