Railway City Brewing Announces Winners of Platform 18 Homebrew Competition

ST. THOMAS, ON – Railway City Brewing has announced the winners of Platform 18, the brewery’s 7th annual homebrewing competition.

Beers submitted by homebrewers across Ontario were judged by panel of professional brewers and BJCP-qualified judges, and the entries selected as Top 3 in the competition were the following:

1st Place: Better Than Cake Milk Stout brewed by Andreas Bettin of St. Thomas
2nd Place: Märzen brewed by Roger Thiessen of Aylmer
3rd Place: Cherry Winter Ale brewed by Kelsey Orth/Brad Semotiuk/Ryan Brown of Toronto

All three winning entries will receive cash prizes, and Andreas Bettin will join the Railway City team to brew a batch of Better Than Cake – featuring “a delicious combination of hazelnut, chocolate, vanilla and cinnamon along with some lactose” – for commercial release this autumn.
