Unibroue Blonde de Chambly Officially Launched

July 12th, 2010

CHAMBLY, QC – Following a preview at last month’s Mondial de la Bière festival in Montreal, Unibroue today officially launched their new beer, Blonde de Chambly.

As with most Unibroue beers, there’s a story behind the name and label:

Here is Unibroue’s own interpretation of traditional Belgian saison ale. Traditionally brewed to help field workers cool off on long summer days, saison ales were highly refreshing—even served warm in the days before refrigeration. Blonde de Chambly pays tribute to the Filles du Roy, the women who came to Nouvelle-France to marry soldiers of the Carignan-Salières Regiment, among others. They settled on the fertile lands defended by Captain Jacques de Chambly and gave birth to many of our ancestors.

Unibroue Blonde de Chambly is available now in Quebec, with distribution elsewhere in Canada to follow.

La Korrigane To Return To Business

February 15th, 2010

QUEBEC CITY, QC - La Korrigane, a brewpub that previously operated in Saguenay, Quebec, will soon be returning with a new location in Quebec City.

Founded in 2004 by John Foster as part of the Cafe Bistro Victoria in the La Baie borough of Saguenay, the first La Korrigane closed in 2007 along with the restaurant. It’s now being revived by Foster’s daughter, Catherine Dionne-Foster, who intends to stick primarily with the English-style ales that the original brewpub specialized in.

If all goes as planned, La Korrigane will be opening in March in Quebec City’s burgeoning Saint-Roch neighbourhood.

Molson M Launched in Quebec

November 21st, 2009

MONTREAL, QC – The third new beer launch in as many months from Molson Coors Canada took place this past week with the release of Molson M.

An article in Marketing Magazine describes the brand:

Molson M is brewed using a “micro-carbonization process” which involves injecting the beer with CO2 through “smaller, finer bubbles.”

“The injection of smaller CO2 bubbles makes it possible to preserve not only the taste of the hops but also the delicate flavours generated by the yeast during fermentation,” explained Karine Brunelle, brewer with Molson Coors.

Molson M is currently available only in Quebec.
