Kichesippi Taking Over Heritage Brewing

OTTAWA, ON – Ottawa arts and culture website Apt 613 reports that after seven months of brewing their beer at Heritage Brewing on a contract basis, Kichesippi Beer Co. has taken the unique step of purchasing their host brewery entirely.

According to the report, Kichesippi owners Paul and Kelly Meek had plans to expand from a contract operation to a full-scale brewery at some point, and when the opportunity to take over Heritage came along due to Ron Moir and Donna Warner wanting to spend more time with family and other projects, they were happy to make the move.

The switchover will officially take place on Tuesday, December 14th, and the brewery will continue with the same staff producing the Heritage and Kichesippi brands.

[UPDATE: An earlier version of this story indicated that the brewery would also continue producing the Heritage-owned Scotch-Irish beers. Paul Meek has subsequently clarified that those brands were not included in the sale, and he’s not sure at this point what will be happening with them.]

[UPDATE 2: Ottawa Business Journal has spoken to both Paul Meek and Ron Moir about the sale, and Moir has confirmed that he and Donna Warner have retained ownership of the Scotch-Irish brands, and intend to continue brewing the beers at the Heritage facility on a contract basis.]
