Mill Street Brewery To Open Brewpub In Ottawa

OTTAWA, ON – Following on several months of rumours that Toronto’s Mill Street Brewery was looking to expand their brand to locations in other cities, CBC Ottawa reports today that a deal has been struck on a location in Ottawa.

Similar to the original Mill Street Brewpub in Toronto’s historic Distillery District, the Ottawa location will feature a restaurant and small brewing facility. It’s also located in an historic building, a former grist mill built in the 1840s which most recently housed The Mill Restaurant before it closed in 2007.

Mill Street has signed a 10-year lease with the National Capital Commission which owns the land and building, with an option to extend. Renovations will take place over the spring and summer, with an aim to open by Labour Day weekend.

UPDATE: More details on the deal and plans for the brewpub were announced in a press release issued late on Friday April 15th. Click here for the press release.
