Gateway Brewing Now Open in Trenton

TRENTON, ONThe Trentonian reports that new microbrewery Gateway Brewing has opened in Trenton, with its grand opening taking place in late July.

Founded by Matt and Kate Cottrell, with beers crafted by brewmaster Chris Greasley (pictured), Gateway is a sibling to homebrew shop Loyalist Brewers, with the two sharing a building on Ontario Street.

The brewery is currently producing two beers – Gateway Blonde Ale and Gateway IPA – which are sold in 1 litre bottles at the brewery store. The facility also includes a bar where samples and full servings of both beers are available.

  1. How do breweries open in my hometown without me knowing? :) I am back home often, I will check them out this weekend.

The last beer brewed in Trenton, to my knowledge, was at the old Wahoo Cafe (was under a different name at the time, cannot recall – lockmaster or something like that) where a brewpub was being run (1998’ish I think).
