Railway City Marks Anniversary of Jumbo the Elephant’s Death with One-Off Brew

ST. THOMAS, ONRailway City Brewing has already paid tribute to Jumbo, the famous circus elephant who was killed when struck by a train in St. Thomas, with their Dead Elephant Ale. Now they’ve prepared a special one-off beer to mark the upcoming anniversary of the legendary pachyderm’s death.

Double Dead Elephant is a variation on the original beer that has been made using locally grown hops from the Vandelsyke Farm, which is located about 15 minutes east of the brewery.

The new beer will be launched at the latest installment of the brewery’s monthly Thursday Night Sessions series of tasting events, which will take place on September 15th, the 126th anniversary of Jumbo’s death.

Admission will cost $5, and is limited to 25 people. To reserve a spot, email info@railwaycitybrewing.com
