Walkerville Brewing Set To Return

WINDSOR, ON – The Windsor Star reports that new owners have taken over the brewery and brands of Walkerville Brewing, and intend to have beer on the market before the end of the year.

The brewery was launched in 1998 by Karen Behune Plunkett, who served as president until the company filed for bankruptcy in late 2007. Bankruptcy trustee Stephen Funtig took over and kept the brewery in operation until April 2010.

The new owners – Toronto’s Frank Bartucci and Ike Surty, and Windsor’s Mike Brkovich, who also owns the building – are bringing back former employee Brad Wright as head brewer. They plan to have Walkerville Premium Blonde on shelves by December, with Walkerville Amber Lager and Walkerville Superior Light to follow.
