Ribstone Creek Brewery Launches in Rural Alberta

EDGERTON, AB – Jason Foster reports on his newly restored blog OnBeer.org that a new brewing company has launched in Edgerton, a small town in eastern Alberta.

Ribstone Creek Brewery is a new initiative from four local partners (“a farmer, a lawyer, a municipal official, and an automotive technician”) who have brought in brewing veteran David Beardsell – owner and brewmaster of The Noble Pig Brewhouse in Kamloops – as a shareholder and consultant.

The company’s flagship brand, Ribstone Creek Lager, is a mainstream pale lager that is currently being contract brewed at Yellowhead Brewery in Edmonton, although the owners plan to have a brewery operational in Edgerton within a year. The beer will be marketed primarily towards bars in rural Alberta that are currently poorly served by other small breweries.
