Vancouver Island Brewery Gets Ready for the Holidays with Dough Head Gingerbread Ale

VICTORIA, BC – In honour of the oncoming winter season and associated holiday celebrations, Vancouver Island Brewery has released a new limited edition seasonal beer.

Dough Head Gingerbread Ale is available exclusively on tap at pubs and restaurants in the Victoria area, and has been crafted to smell and taste like a fresh gingerbread cookie:

This ale has a blend of 4 malts including Chocolate, Crystal and Honey Malt and then we added ginger, cloves and cinnamon into the kettle to get the full flavours and aromas of gingerbread. Dough Head is unfiltered, amber in colour with some good malt body with a little sweetness. It is lightly hopped which really allows the spices to come through in the nose and it has a unique lingering warmth from the cloves.

The brewery has also teamed up with the Inn and Laurel Point to help support the 2011 Great Gingerbread Showcase and its fundraising effort for Habitat for Humanity Victoria. Dough Head will be available at Aura Restaurant in the Inn, and 25 cents from every pint sold will be donated to Habitat for Humanity in support of building housing for low-income families.
