Half Pints Releases New Winter Seasonal

WINNIPEG, MB – For the past few years, craft beer drinkers in Winnipeg have looked forward to December as the release date for a new annual vintage of Half Pints Burlywine – and with good reason, as it was considered by many to be one of the best barley wines in Canada.

This year, however, the Burlywine has been set aside in favour of a new winter seasonal, Demeter’s Harvest, which is described by brewmaster Dave Rudge as follows:

The Demeter’s Harvest is a Wheatwine with local 2 row pale malt, hard malted white wheat, and many buckets of honey from our friends over at BeeMaid here on Roseberry. The beer is finished with multiple American citrus hop varieties for a strong snappy hop aroma. So while not vegan, it is quite possibly one of the most interesting beers we’ve put out there to date and a serious contender for many best of lists in the coming year.

Demeter’s Harvest was debuted at the brewery’s annual Open House event earlier this month, and is now available in 650 ml bottles at select MLCC locations. And also out now is Sweet Nikki Brown, a returning seasonal that will be available until February.

  1. I tried Demeter’s Harvest this past weekend after picking up a few bottles at the MLCC. It’s absolutely fabulous and nothing like I’ve ever tasted before. Very sweet and with a bitter snap of hops at the end, the texture is velvety with very fine carbonation. I hope people give this one a shot as a unique holiday treat!
