Big Rig Brewery Opening Next Week

OTTAWA, ONBig Rig Brewery, a new brewery and restaurant owned by Ottawa Senators defenceman Chris Phillips and several partners, is set to open for business next Monday June 11th.

As reported here on CBN back in March, Big Rig – which takes its moniker from Phillips’ on-ice nickname – is being opened by the athlete in partnership with Pierre Cleroux (former partner in the Clocktower Brewpub chain), Lon Ladell (formerly of Spinnakers Gastro Brewpub in Victoria), and Jimmy Zourntos & Angelis Koutsos (both restaurateurs in Ottawa).

According to a post on local food and drink blog Omnivore’s Ottawa, Big Rig will have six house-made brews on tap at opening, including India Pale Ale, Rideau Red, Byward Brown, Stud Stout, El Hefe Hefeweizen, and the flagship Big Rig Gold. In addition to being served on site, beer will be available to go in growlers and six packs of 355 ml bottles, with the latter planned to be available at select LCBO outlets later this summer.
