Ontario Breweries Launching New Beers to Celebrate Ontario Craft Beer Week

TORONTO, ON – As the 2012 edition of Ontario Craft Beer Week officially kicks off today with various beer events across the province – most with a Father’s Day theme – many of the breweries participating in this year’s festivities are releasing limited edition and one-off beers to mark the occasion.

While it’s difficult to compile a complete list of these special brews, some of the more notable ones include the following:

  • Amsterdam Brewery and Great Lakes Brewery have teamed up – with an uncredited cameo by Erica Graholm of Steam Whistle – to produce Farmhouse Ale, a 6.5% abv saison-style ale made with cardamom, sage and peppercorns. It was debuted at the OCB Week media launch on Friday, and will be available on tap at various OCB Week events, as well as in bottles at both brewery stores.
  • Amsterdam will also be offering a number of one-off beers at various OCB Week events, including: Maverick & Gose, a Leipziger Gose going on tap at today’s Brewer’s Backyard; a Sour Cherry Imperial Stout made in collaboration with Flat Rock Cellars to be served at tomorrow’s Canadian Beer News Dinner; a Molasses Porter at next weekend’s 1812 Bi-Centennial Beer Challenge at C’est What; and several more listed on their website.
  • Muskoka Brewery is kicking off a planned series of ultra-limited one-offs with When In Brugge, a Belgian Dubbel limited to just 30 swing-top bottles that will be going on sale at the Muskoka Taproom brewery store today at 11:00 AM.
  • Wellington Brewery is launching Boot Chuck IPA, a beer that is described as “the culmination of our last 2 batches of Welly One-Off IPA.” Boot Chuck will be available at several OCB Week events, and will be on sale at the brewery in 473 ml cans from today until September.
  • Wellington has also collaborated with fellow Guelph residents F&M Brewery on a special one-off beer made with various hot and sweet peppers which will be available exclusively at today’s Father’s Day Ale Trail event being presented in partnership with the Woolwich Arrow pub.
