Brandon Sun Blogger Making Plans for Co-op Brewpub in City’s Downtown

BRANDON, MB – Grant Hamilton, an editor and blogger at the Brandon Sun newspaper, is formulating a plan to open a co-op brewpub in a vacant historic firehall in downtown Brandon.

Hamilton first outlined the idea in a blog post on August 10th, where he described his vision of starting a co-op project to raise funds for Brewtinerie, a combination brewery and poutinerie (i.e. restaurant specializing in poutine and other pub grub). Follow up posts on August 17th and last Friday have gone into more detail, with descriptions of the strong support the idea has received from the community.

Hamilton is now in the final stages of preparing an official proposal to the city, and should it be successful, he hopes to see the Brewtinerie open and brewing by sometime in 2013. More details will be posted on the Brewtinerie website, Facebook page and Twitter feed as available.
