Beer Academy Announces Event Schedule For Toronto Beer Week

TORONTO, ONBeer Academy, the small-scale brewery and beer education centre owned by Molson‘s Six Pints Specialty Beer Company, has announced its schedule of events for Toronto Beer Week, starting with the launch of three new beers, continuing into a week of presentations and workshops on various aspects of beer and brewing, and culminating in a beer brunch featuring one of Canada’s top celebrity chefs, Guy Rubino.

The full series of events, with descriptions provided by Beer Academy, include the following:

Friday September 14th 2012
Toronto Beer Week New Beer Launch
Time: 11am to 9pm
Cost: Free to attend

To celebrate the start of Toronto Beer Week we are launching three new beers on opening night. Join us in the Tasting Room for the launch of our new Hefeweizen, Peach Wheat Ale, and Nitro Smoked Porter. We are bringing back Belgian Brown Ale, and will also be pouring Kolsch, IPA, Cascadian Dark, Vienna Lager, along with Creemore Springs Altbier and Lager.

Monday September 17th 2012
Exploring the Brewing Process – Water
Time: 12pm to 7pm, special presentations from 12pm to 1pm, 4 to 6pm.
Cost: Free to attend

All day in the Tasting Room we will take you through an interactive tour of the brewing process and explain how water can affect the art of brewing and the finished beer.

Tuesday September 18th 2012
Exploring the Brewing Process – Yeast
Time: 12pm to 7pm, special presentations from 12pm to 1pm, 4 to 6pm.
Cost: Free to attend

During our focus on yeast we will look at it in a few different forms, discuss how the wide variety of yeast strains have helped to create specific beer styles, and examine the specific flavour profiles that can be created by yeast.

Exploring the Brewing Process – Hops
Time: 12pm to 7pm, special presentations from 12pm to 1pm, 4 and 6pm.
Cost: Free to attend

We will look at different hops varieties and their characteristics, different forms of hops and how they can be used, and we’ll taste hop teas and examples of beers brewed with specific hop varieties.

Thursday September 20th 2012
Exploring the Brewing Process – Malt
Time: 11am to 9pm, special presentations from 12pm to 1pm, 4 to 7pm.
Cost: Free to attend, cash at bar for samples

Malt gives beer its colour, mouthfeel, sweetness, and much of its overall flavour – we will sample a wide range of malts, taste fresh wort made with those malts, and even brew some wort right at your table!

Exploring Beer’s Versatility – Beer and Cheese Pairings
Time: 11am to 9pm, special presentations from 12pm to 1pm, 4 to 7pm
Cost: Free to attend

Together, let’s examine some of the beers that we have worked so hard on, and how they can cut, compliment, or contrast some amazing cheeses to form mind-blowing gastronomic experiences.

Beer Academy Brewmaster’s Brunch
