Driftwood Marks 5th Anniversary of Old Cellar Dweller Barley Wine with Special Barrel-Aged Version

VICTORIA, BCDriftwood Brewery has announced the release of the 5th anniversary edition of a winter favourite, as well as a special variation to mark the occasion.

Old Cellar Dweller barley wine is back for another year, and is described as follows:

Three times the malt bill and five times the hops of a normal strength beer, this Barleywine tests the limits of our brewhouse and our backs! But the real struggle is in getting this massive brew to completely ferment, a true test of our skill and the vigor of our yeast. Consisting of 98% Pale Malt (with a bag of CaraMunch thrown in for color) and just one hop variety, Columbus, this beer showcases these two basic ingredients in their most concentrated state.

Joining it this year is Old Barrel Dweller, an amped up barrel-aged version:

Celebrating the 5th release of Old Cellar Dweller, we brewed a second version and age conditioned it in select Kentucky bourbon barrels! This ale uses four times the ingredients and involves an overnight boil in our brew kettle that yields a luxurious and deep malt character that is balanced by warming alcohol notes and northwest hops.

Both Dwellers are available now at the Driftwood retail store, and soon at select liquor stores in the Victoria and Vancouver areas.
