Molson Coors Files Lawsuit to Retain Canadian Rights to Miller Brands

TORONTO, ON – The Wall Street Journal reports that Molson Coors Canada has filed a lawsuit against SABMiller in order to retain the rights the latter company’s brands in Canada.

Molson Coors has been brewing and distributing SABMiller brands including Miller Genuine Draft and Milwaukee’s Best in Canada for many years, but were informed in December that SABMiller planned to terminate that agreement and begin self-distribution this summer. These plans were confirmed via a press release issued by SABMiller on Wednesday of this week.

In response, Molson Coors has filed a lawsuit in Ontario asking that that SABMiller be forced to “abide by its contractual terms.”

Further details about the lawsuit have not been released at this time.
