SHELBURNE, NSThe Shelburne County Coast Guard community paper reports that a new brewery will soon be opening in the small town of Shelburne on the south shore of Nova Scotia.

Boxing Rock Brewing is being launched by Emily Tipton and Henry Pedro, who hope to have the brewery up and running by June of this year.

Named after a rock in Shelburne Harbour where it’s rumoured that ship captains used to drop off troublesome crew members to work out their differences, Boxing Rock will be operating out of a 5000 square foot facility built to have a low environmental footprint. The 17 hectolitre brew house will be used to produce up to 8 different beers in the first year, with a planned annual output of 1200 to 1400 hectolitres.

More details will be posted on the Boxing Rock website as opening day approaches.
