WHITBY, ON – After a self-described “2 years of planning, 1 year running around like chickens with our heads cut off, (and) an overwhelming amount of support from our family, friends and community,” 5 Paddles Brewing will be opening its doors to the public in Whitby, Ontario tomorrow (Tuesday June 11th) for the first time.

Named after the fact that the five brewery partners – Ed Woods, Mike Bray, Ian Mills, Spencer McCormack and JP Tibensky – each have “a hand, or mash paddle for that matter, in the brewing process,” 5 Paddles will be launching with three beers…

Dog Days of Summer Ale (6% abv, 30 IBUs):

Not your average Summer Ale. Featuring the Summer Saaz hop from New Zealand and coming in at 6% ABV, the Dog Days of Summer Ale is a real Beer Geek’s Summer Ale. Hazy and highly drinkable but still full of character and complexity.

Badass Pale Ale (6.3% abv, 35 IBUs):

A malt forward APA. Big, rich mouthfeel with lots of toffee notes. Citrus-y American hops are present and keep things in balance. The Badass Pale Ale is the first beer we brewed here at 5 Paddles and we are proud to kick our way into the market with this truly badass pale ale.

The Midnight Paddler (9.9% abv, 108 IBUs)

Hops and roast battle to overwhelm your palette in this balanced yet bold Black IPA/Imperial Stout hybrid. A great or terrifying introduction to 5 Paddles Brewing depending on your perspective. Not a beer for the faint of heart.

This trio will be joined later in the week by two additional beers, We Opened A Brewery ESB (5.3% abv, 50 IBUs) and Hot Pants IPA (5.5% abv, 60 IBUs).

All 5 Paddles beers will be available exclusively in 650 ml bottles sold at the brewery store (10 Sunray Street, Unit #22, Whitby) which will be open Tuesday through Saturday from 11:00 AM to 7:00 PM.
