VICTORIA, BCPhillips Brewing has announced the return of a popular Hallowe’en-themed seasonal beer, and the debut of a bigger & bolder barrel-aged version.

Crooked Tooth Pumpkin Ale has been an annual fall release for Phillips since 2007, and is described as follows:

Plucked from the patch, this Phillips seasonal classic combines fresh pumpkin, ginger, cinnamon and nutmeg with a full-bodied ale. It’s a witches brew packed full of fall harvest flavour that, like many ghostly spirits of the season, has a tendency to disappear quickly.

Joining it this year is Crookeder Tooth Barrel-Aged Pumpkin Ale, a stronger version (7.3% vs 5.0%) that has the following notes:

Our crooked smiles are extra wide this year because we’ve designed an all-new super-sized seasonal that uses a barrel-aging trick to put the finishing touches on a pumpkin treat! Crookeder Tooth is brewed full-bodied with loads of fresh pumpkin and then carefully aged in selected freshly-emptied whiskey barrels. The result is a slightly sweet, gently spiced brew that blends fresh pumpkin flavours with soft velvet vanilla.

Crooked Tooth and Crookeder Tooth are both available for a limited time at select private liquor stores in BC, with the original Crooked also set to be available at BC Liquor Store locations.
