VANCOUVER, BC – Two days after its license to sell beer to private individuals was revoked due to a mix-up between two provincial government agencies, Vancouver’s Storm Brewing announced this evening that a new license has been issued, allowing the brewery to once again sell kegs and growlers to non-licensees.
As reported here on CBN yesterday, the original license removal was triggered by an inspection by Liquor Control and Licensing Branch (LCLB) representatives who informed Storm owner and brewer James Walton that the brewery lacked the proper license to sell directly to the public – this despite the fact that another government agency, the Liquor Distribution Branch (LDB), had approved the sales and issued valid SKUs to Storm for all of the products it was selling.
While Walton gave no details of the reasons behind the turnaround on the part of the LCLB, it’s likely that coverage of the situation by various blogs and media outlets – including VanEast Beer Blog, which provided the most detailed coverage – played some part in the quick resolution.
