Sleeping Giant Releasing Nowadays Apocalypse Ale This Weekend

THUNDER BAY, ONSleeping Giant Brewing has announced the release of a new limited edition beer inspired by Nowadays, a zombie graphic novel from local writers/artists Christopher Merkley and Kurt Martell.

Nowadays Apocalypse Ale – which has the apocalyptic stats of “around 6.66% ABV and 66.6 IBUs” – is described as follows:

The base malt will have some caramel balance to the hopping with some obvious black colour. American hops will be used so citrus, herbal and pine on the aroma and the hop taste. The finish is bitter that clears quickly. It’s hop-forward strong ale, black in colour, but without a corresponding roasted malt character. American ale yeast accentuates hop character and provides a clean, dry finish.

Nowadays Apocalypse Ale will be available at the Sleeping Giant taproom and store starting at 12:00 noon tomorrow (Saturday October 26th), selling for $15 per growler, and copies of the Nowadays graphic novel will also be available. The beer will also be carried on draught at several bars and restaurants in Thunder Bay – see the Sleeping Giant Facebook page for more details.
