TORONTO, ON – The Canadian arm of Scotland’s Innis & Gunn has announced details of a pair of seasonal beers that are set to be launched this fall in several provinces, as well as the 2013 edition of its popular holiday gift pack.

Innis & Gunn Oloroso Cask is a limited edition beer aged for 60 days in Oloroso Sherry casks originally from Spain that were then used by a whisky distiller before being procured by the brewery. Checking in at 7.4% abv, it’s described as having “a distinctively rich and spicy flavour profile, with lots of nutty, caramel sweetness drawn from the wood.”

Oloroso Cask will be available in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, New Brunswick, Newfoundland, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan, with prices starting at $4.95 per 330 ml bottle.

Innis & Gunn Spiced Rum Finish was previously available in Canada as part of the 2011 holiday package, and now returns as a stand-alone seasonal release. Described as “a well-balanced delicious beer with notes of baked apples and pears along with hints of dried fruit and oak,” the 7.4% abv ale was finished over oak infused with Caribbean spiced rum.

Spiced Rum Finish will be available in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Ontario and Saskatchewan, priced from $3.25 per 330 ml bottle.

Innis & Gunn Gift Pack 2013 follows the tradition of previous years by featuring the flagship Innis & Gunn Original alongside two other I&G products and a branded glass. For this year, the additional beers are Treacle Porter – a strong Scottish porter “finished with treacle which imparts a lingering, bitter-sweet character” – and the brand new Bourbon Stout – “matured slowly over bourbon-infused oak to give it its mellow vanilla flavour and a nice warming bourbon kick.”

The 2013 Gift Pack will be available in Alberta, British Columbia, Manitoba, Newfoundland, New Brunswick, Nova Scotia, Ontario and Saskatchewan, with prices TBC.

  1. Very much looking forward to the new Bourbon Stout this holiday season. Will there be more Highland Cask in the future? Highland Cask was a major part of my winter last year after I discovered it in the 2012 Gift Pack. Absolutely delicious.
